<lj:music>This List!</lj:music>

So, I'd brought this topic up to some you before about a list of songs that fit each Fruits Basket character. Joie, Janet, Vanessa and I were playing with it a bit last night but didn't get very far. I did manage (by flipping through my i-pod) to come up with songs for each of the main characters and a few extras, so I thought I'd post it here and get some thoughts on it. I'll give you my reasons (or who gave me the idea for the song) as well. And if you want to listen to the song and don't have it (or want it) rhapsody.com allows you to listen to a whole song before buying it so it's a good way to hear it. I also tried to make sure that the songs were either generally popular or from musicals or movies to try to make sure there's a wider likely hood of more people knowing it.

Toru "Landslide" (I personally prefer the Smashing Pumpkins versions but there are many covers of this song.) Joie actually suggested it and after revisiting it I can't think of a song that fits better. It's about missing someone but learning to move on. 'Nuff said.
Yuki "Bullet With Butterfly Wings' aka "Rat in A Cage" (Smashing Pumpkins) I loved the irony of the title and it to me fits Yuki before he meets Toru. He's not happy in the Soma and yet is unable to leave. I do think I need a song for after he's met Toru though so any suggestions would be welcome.
Kyo "Give A Little Bit" (Goo Goo Dolls version) or "Iris" (also Goo Goo Dolls) I thought of the first one after listening to it again and it does fit well. Kyo just wants people and specifically Toru to care about him as a person. But when I thought of "Iris" I nearly smacked myself on the forehead, this was used as a Fruits Basket AMV and it fit so perfectly it made me cry.
Shigure "He's A Tramp" (Lady and the Tramp) This one is on one of Christie's Fruba mixes and it's another 'nuff said.
Ayame "Dancing Through Life" (Wicked) This is also 'nuff said.
Hatori "How Soon Is Now" ( the Smiths) or "the Scientist" ( Cold play) The first one could fit many of the Juniishi because it's about being shy with someone you like and the line "I am human and I need to be loved" makes good sense. I put this for Hatori however because while it's a slow song it's not too sad and focuses more on the fact that Hatori may never truly admit that he's not as content with being alone as he says he is. Joie suggested the second one and it is more of a focus on his relationship with Kana.
Hatsuharu "Hanging By A Moment" (Lifehouse) I think this perfectly fits how he feels about Rin. He doesn't always know where their relationship is going sometimes but he'll hang on for the ride.
Rin "She's Always A Woman To Me" (Billy Joel) The song is all about no matter how mean the girl is he loves her anyway.
Momiji "When You Wish Upon A Star" (Pinocchio) or "There's A Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow" (Song from the Carousel of Progress; it's also on the sound track to "Meet the Robinsons") the first one is the song that Momiji promises to play for Toru on his violin. The second is all about looking forward positively to the future.
Kisa "Let It Be" (the Beatles) It's a sad sounding song with such a lovely message of being comforted when you have problems. Just let it go and have faith that there is someone who cares for you in your time of need.
Hiro "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" (the Beatles) I’d kind of like to find a better song for Hiro in terms of his personality. This one is just too happy and upbeat, but it does fit how he feels about Kisa.
Kureno "I'm Like a Bird" (Nelly Furtatdo) or "Blackbird" (The Beatles) The first song is about leaving someone you care about in order to find yourself. "Blackbird" is similar but the bird wants to try it's wings and learn to move on.
Ritsu "I'm A Believer" (the Monkees) I had a hard time with Ritsu because while he is so energetic he's also sad. I thought this fit well because until he met Mitsuru (Shigure's editor) he didn't have a lot of hope for life or love, but she changed all of that.
Kagura "I Don't Know How To Love Him" (Jesus Christ Superstar) Kagura’s another one I had trouble with but I thought this fit her feelings for Kyo, especially after she truly realizes she loves him and she's not faking it to convince herself.
Akito "One Of Us" (Joan Osbourne) What if God was one of us? Hopefully God wouldn't be like Akito can be!
Just for fun
Yuki's Fan Club Joie and I thought that a remix of the Mickey Mouse Club anthem and "Mickey" by Toni Basil would be a perfect theme song for them.
Kyo & Toru's song: "Beauty and the Beast" hee!
Shigure & Akito "It's Beginning To Get To Me" ( Snow Patrol) This song is about a relationship going bad because the people in it aren't communicating well and, I think the imagery in it fits nicely.
I haven't come up with anything for Hana or Uo so suggestions would be welcome, oh! and Kyoko too.

So, I've found another neat site to share with y'all. It's called www.freerice.com. It's really cool too. For every word you get correct the sponsors of the site donate ten grains of rice to hungry people. Ten grains isn't much it's true but it's actually pretty easy to donate more because what you're doing is choosing the synonym to the word they give you. It's actually rather addicting and all for a good cause. Check it out if you get the chance!

My brother just sent me a link to a very cool and intersting website, it's called Kiva.org. What it does is gives you an opportunity to loan money to people trying to start a business in a third world country. It's really a neat site if your looking to help. I think what I like best is the fact that it's a loan not a donation. In truth it doesn't really matter to me weather I get the money back or not, but what it does is allow the person you've helped to get experience in business matters. So, check it out if you want, loan some money too if you're able and please, share this site with others if you like what you see!
